Stampin’ Up! Artistic Watercolor Special Celebration Card

Today’s card is a special one I made for my friend and upline Amy Koenders – Stamp With Amy K, that achieved $1 Million in sales last week.  Woo-hoo!  So proud of her!!!

I used the detailed floral and greenery die from the Artistic Dies set to cut the image from a Gold Foil Sheet.  Place the die cut on a panel of Basic White card stock to determine placement.  Use a fine mechanical pencil to very lightly trace around the areas where you plan to add the watercolored background.

The colors I used for watercoloring are all from the 2021-2023 In Colors collection: Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya.  Gently squeeze the closed ink pads to transfer some ink from the pad to the lid.  Use a water painter brush to add a small amount of water to the ink on the lid.  Then use the brush to add layers of color to the area you want to paint.  I prefer an uneven coverage, with light and dark variations, not trying for perfection.  I also try to work quickly and keep the wetness factor to a minimum.  Once it’s thoroughly dry, use a white eraser to remove any pencil lines, if needed.

Then adhere the Gold Foil die cut over the painted area using small dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Use Stampin’ Seal tape to adhere the art piece to a Gold Foil mat.  Wrap a length of Gold Metallic Trim from the Simply Elegant Trim pack around the art piece three times and secure the ends on the back with tape.  Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere a panel of Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper to the front of a Basic White Thick card base.  Adhere the art piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Next, use Gold Metallic Stampin’ Emboss Powder to add the sentiment from the A Grand Kid stamp set to a strip of Basic White Thick card stock.

After it is completely cooled, crop with a die from the Seasonal Labels Dies.  I did a double cut to shorten the label to the length I wanted.  Turn the die over and trace it on the back side of a Gold Foil Sheet – you’ll need to adjust the length.  Use Paper Snips to hand cut to make a mat for the sentiment.  Adhere the sentiment to the foil mat with Liquid Glue.  Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the label over the trim, extending over the right side of the artpiece.  Stack two Dimensionals on the end that extends to adhere to the card front.  Add a triple loop bow with Mini Glue Dots.  A few Genial Gems add sparkle and shine.

Use Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder to add a sentiment from the A Grand Kid stamp set to a Basic White panel for the inside.  Use Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Gold Foil Sheet and also to adhere the layer to the inside of the card base.

I gently and carefully took apart a Stampin’ Up! medium envelope and used it as a pattern to make the coordinating envelope from a panel of Simply Elegent Specialty Designer Series Paper.  I used a pencil to trace it and hand cut with Paper Snips.

Beautiful card, Sue! I have this die but haven’t used it, since I’m a tad OCD, I need to have each flower color contained. I’m glad to hear that using the light pencil lines works! I will try it!

Thank you for sharing the details on this card. I saw it on Pinterest and couldn’t figure out how you made the colors match the die cut shape perfectly.
