Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Moments Birthday for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  Please be sure to visit everyone’s blog  to see the great projects they are sharing with you this week.  My project today features the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, the Painted Labels Dies and the Peaceful Poppies Elements.  We are all working with a color challenge this week – here’s my project:

And here are the colors we’re using:

The Peaceful Poppies Elements pack has a collection of die-cut accents that coordinate with the Peaceful Poppies Suite.  For today’s card, I chose to use some images from the pack that were clear-embossed on watercolor paper.  It’s a quick and easy way to add your own artistic touch using your choice of colors.

Gently squeeze an Old Olive ink pad to transfer some ink to the lid.  First use an Aqua Painter to wet the leaves you want to color.  Then pick up some ink with the Aqua Painter and add it to the damp leaves.  This will allow the color to “flow” and reduce streaking.  Use the same method to add color to the flowers using Blackberry Bliss and Poppy Parade ink.  Before cleaning the brush in between color changes, gently tap it over the two Whisper White card stock panels for the card front and inside to add some spots and splats.

Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the Whisper White piece to a panel of Blackberry Bliss card stock.  Then adhere the layer to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Use Blackberry Bliss ink to stamp the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  Cut it out with a circle die from the Stitched Shapes Dies.  Cut the wreath-looking piece from Old Olive card stock with a die from the Painted Labels Dies.  Adhere the sentiment to the wreath and adhere the wreath to the card front using Liquid Glue.  Determine the layout you want for the painted leaves and flowers.  Adhere the leaves and flowers on the left and right sides with Liquid Glue.  Adhere the flower in the center with Dimensionals.   Embellish with a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Use Blackberry Bliss ink to stamp the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set on the inside panel.  Adhere it to a panel of Blackberry Bliss card stock and then to the inside of the card with Liquid Glue.  Add a couple painted leaves and a flower to complete.

Yes, Cathy, do try it out! It’s pretty simple to watercolor the Elements. I kept them on the sheet to paint and then punched them out after they dried.
