Stampin’ Up! Christmas Gleaming for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  Please be sure to visit everyone’s blog  to see the great projects they are sharing with you for this challenge.  My card features the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set, Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack, Beautiful Boughs Dies and Greatest Part of Christmas Stamp Set.  We are all working with a color challenge this week – here’s my card:

And here are the colors we are using:

The ornaments in the Christmas Gleaming stamp set have beautifully detailed designs that lend themselves well to heat embossing.  For this card, I embossed them with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I still love to watch the magic as the image glosses over when the powder reaches the right temperature.

To begin, dry emboss a panel of Very Vanilla card stock with the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder.  Adhere it to a mat of Night of Navy card stock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Use the Detailed Trio Punch to cut openings along both sides of the completed layer approximately 3/4″ down from the top edge.   Thread a length of Very Vanilla/Copper Ribbon through the openings, center the sentiment and secure the ends on the back side with tape.  Then adhere to a mat of Very Vanilla card stock before adhering to the front of the Night of Navy card base using Liquid Glue.

Stamp the ornaments from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set on Very Vanilla and Night of Navy card stock with VersaMark ink, sprinkle with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat with the Heat Tool until glossy and set.  Punch them out with the corresponding punches from the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack.  Add a bit of color to the Very Vanilla ornaments by selectively coloring some of the details using a Light Night of Navy Stampin’ Blends marker.

Use the Beautiful Boughs Dies to cut out one large branch and one small branch from a Copper Foil Sheet.  Adhere the large branch to the card front using Mini Glue Dots, slipping the top of the branch under the ribbon as shown.  Adhere the ornaments to the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Adhere the small branch to the inside panel of Very Vanilla card stock with Mini Glue Dots and adhere the small Navy ornament to the panel with Liquid Glue.  Stamp the sentiment from the Greatest Part of Christmas stamp set in Night of Navy ink.  Then use Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the card base.  Yay!  One more card ready to mail.

  9. Grace Wilson says:

Sue I loved the way you interspersed some beautiful copper boughs without the heavy use if copper everywhere. It was a beautiful ACCENT in the ornaments and kept the card truly a work if art! Really “best of show” and not just a one dimensional look. Thank you
