Welcome to Simply Stampin’ Sunday – my post of Clean And Simple projects that can be made in minutes using Stampin’ Up! products.  This week’s card features the soon-to-be-retired Sale-A-Bration Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper and the Butterfly Gala stamp set and Butterfly Duet Punch from the Occasions Catalog.  The good news – the Butterfly Duet Punch is back in stock!  The bad news – the DSP is retiring tonight!  Order them both TODAY!

My card design is based on CAS(E) This Sketch #315

This sheet of Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper is black & white and was begging to be colored – and so I did.  I find coloring very relaxing – guessing that I’m not alone.  And I won’t lie, it took more than a minute.  So if you need to, do the coloring one evening to relax and then make the card another day, like I did.

The butterfly is stamped on Whisper White card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends in Dark Pineapple Punch and Light Lovely Lipstick.  It is then cut out using the Butterfly Duet Punch.

I also like my butterflies to look like they’re ready to fly away, so it’s wings are lifted and the glue is applied only under the body.  Add a few Melon Mambo Glitter Enamel Dots as embellishments.

Stamp the butterfly on the inside panel of Whisper White card stock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and color it with Dark Pineapple Punch and Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends markers.

Here are the Simple Steps to make this card:

1. Cut a 4-1/4″ x 11″ panel of Pineapple Punch card stock and score at 5-1/2″ for the card base.
2. Cut a 3-3/4″ x 5″ panel of Botanical Butterfly DSP and color with markers as follows:  The background is Pool Party.  The flowers are Grapefruit Grove, Pineapple Punch, Lovely Lipstick, Lemon Lime Twist, Flirty Flamingo and Highland Heather.  The butterflies are left black and white – not colored.
3. Adhere the colored piece to a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ panel of Basic Black card stock with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, then adhere to the front of the card with Glue.
4. Stamp the sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a 1″ x 3-7/8″ strip of Pineapple Punch card stock.
5. Use Liquid Glue to adhere the stamped strip to a 1-1/4″ x 3-7/8″ strip of Botanical Butterfly DSP, then adhere to the card front with Glue.
6. Stamp the butterfly on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  Color with Dark Pineapple Punch and Light Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends.
7. Cut the butterfly out with the Butterfly Duet Punch.
8. Cut a Circle from Whisper White card stock with a die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.
9. Stamp the butterfly antenna on the circle before adhering the butterfly by lifting the wings a bit and applying Glue under the body area only.
10. Adhere the white circle to a scalloped Basic Black circle cut with the Layering Circle Framelits Dies, then use Glue to adhere the completed art piece over the strip accent.
11. Add some Melon Mambo Glitter Enamel Dots embellishments.
12. Use Memento ink to stamp the butterfly image in the lower right corner of a 3-3/4″ x 5″ panel of Whisper White card stock
13. Color with Dark Pineapple Punch and Dark Pool Party Stampin’ Blends markers.
14. Adhere the white panel to a 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ panel of Basic Black card stock and then adhere to the inside of the card using Liquid Glue.
