Welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! I used the Rooted in Nature stamp set to create my card for today. We have a sketch challenge this week – this is what I made:

The Rooted in Nature stamp set has such a nice selection of botanical images plus some wonderful sentiments – offering so many options and possibilities.
My masculine sympathy/caring card puts the focus on a tall, lone tree, softened by a watercolored background using an aqua painter and ink.
Cut a panel of watercolor paper a bit oversize and gently tear about 1/4″ off one long edge. Use an aqua painter and Mossy Meadow ink to paint the lower third of the panel. When dry, wet the upper two-thirds of the panel with the aqua painter and add Balmy Blue ink for the sky. Allow to dry.
Ink the tree stamp by coloring it with Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write markers. Breathe on the stamp to moisten and stamp over the painted background.
Use the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder to add texture to a panel of Wood Texture Designer Series Paper. Adhere the embossed piece to a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock with Mutipurpose Liquid Glue. Use Glue to adhere the art piece to this layer and then wrap it with a length of 1/4″ Copper Trim and tie a knot. Stamp the sentiment with Soft Suede ink. Adhere the completed layer to a card base of Mossy Meadow card stock with Stampin’ Dimensionals. 
Use the markers to ink the tree stamp one more time. Breathe on the stamp to moisten, stamp off twice, breathe on it again and stamp on a panel of Very Vanilla card stock. Adhere the panel to the inside of the card with Liquid Glue.

Are you familiar with the song “Trail of the Lonesome Pine”? Your card reminds me of the sheet music cover I had. The way you used the torn edge for the sketch was genius. I love the simplicity of your creation and it is very nostalgic for me.
