Stampin’ Up! Varied Vases Joy Fold for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

I used the new Varied Vases stamp set and the new Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper from the 2018-19 Annual Catalog to create my card for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop today.  We have a color challenge this week and this is what I made for it:

Here are the colors that we’re using this week:

I love the simplicity of the Varied Vases stamp set and yet there are so many possibilties and options.  Sweet sentiments in a pretty script add to the versatility.  And yes, it is available for sale June 1st!  That’s tomorrow!  Yippee!

My fun fold card design is called a Joy Fold.  It’s easy to make and definitely fun.  Begin with a 4-1/4″ x 8″ panel of Night of Navy card stock scored at 5-1/2″ and folded.  Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere a panel of Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper to the card base.  Adhere a strip from the same DSP collection to the flap on the front of the card base.  Next cut a 3″ x 8″ panel of Night of Navy card stock, score at 4″ and fold.  Center this smaller card left to right and top to bottom on the card base and adhere with Liquid Glue.

Stamp the patterned vases on Whisper White card stock with Crumb Cake ink and punch out using the Vases Builder Punch.  Stamp the scalloped image along the lower edge of a panel of Whisper White card stock in Night of Navy ink to create a “shelf” for the vases to sit on.  Stamp the floral images with Basic Black Archival ink or Jet Black StazOn ink.  Do a dry-fit of the placement first – the lower ends of the stems were not inked.  Use a blender pen and Night of Navy ink from the ink pad lid to paint the blooms.  Add Mint Macaron ink along the stems using a blender pen, as well.  Use Liquid Glue to adhere the vases in place after the painting is completed.  Adhere the completed art piece to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I also added a vase and stem of painted flowers to a strip of Whiper White cardstock and adhered it to the inside of the flap to be viewed once the card was opened.  Stamp the sentiment from the Varied Vases stamp set with Night of Navy ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock and adhere to the inside of the card with Liquid Glue.

The finishing touch is a button from the True Gentleman Buttons collection.  Close the card flaps and use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere a button slightly over the edge of the card flap so it will tuck under.  This helps keep the card closed and adds a nice embellishment, too.  Tie a small bow with Linen Thread and adhere to the top of the button with a rolled Glue Dot.
