Stampin’ Up! Flying Home Birdhouse Best Wishes

The Flying Home stamp set in the Occasions catalog has eight sweet line drawn images ready for coloring (0r not!).  They can be customized to suit any occasion or match any Designer Series Paper.  How fun!

My card layout today was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches 326:

I’ve been itching to color the birdhouses in the Flying Home stamp set ever since I saw it in the Occasions catalog.  I admit I played around with this image a bit until I came up with the final project.  While it wasn’t my intention when I started, I used only four colors and black on this version.  The image is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock.  I used Stampin’ Write Markers in the following colors: Real Red, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Basic Black.  I love that the markers have both a brush tip for coloring larger areas and a writing tip which is great for coloring the small details.

The card base is Basic Black with a panel of Lemon Lime Twist card stock adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  After I completed the coloring, I used Liquid Glue to adhere the art piece to a panel of Basic Black card stock.  I used the lacy trim die from the Petals & More Thinlits Die set to cut an accent piece from Real Red card stock, which I adhered to the back of the art piece along the right side with Liquid Glue.  The art piece is then adhered to the card base with Liquid Glue, as well.

I stamped the sentiment from the Petal Palette stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink on a panel of Whisper White card stock and used the label die from the Petals & More Thinlits die set to cut it out.  It is adhered to a strip of Basic Black card stock with Liquid Glue and then mounted on the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A couple of Real Red hearts from the Brights Enamel Shapes embellishments add the finishing touch.

The Flying Home stamp set includes these sweet little bird images which I used to add a touch of color and cheer to the inside panel, which is Whisper White with a Lemon Lime Twist mat.  All layers are adhered with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I did not add a sentiment to the inside, but I think this would be perfect for either a Birthday, For You, Congrats, New Home and Celebration card.  It’s really bright and happy.
