Stampin’ Up! Merry Patterns Woodland Deer

The Merry Patterns exclusive Host stamp set has a great selection of images.  The deer with the sweater pairs perfectly with this sentiment from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set.  Do you agree?

This combination of the deer and Woodland embossing folder was shared by Debbie Henderson in her awesome YouTube tutorial HERE.  I followed her example by inking the Woodland embossing folder with Soft Sky ink and embossed a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ panel of Whisper White cardstock.  Trim to 3-3/4″ x 5″ to “square it up” after embossing.  Shade the trees using a sponge dauber with Smoky Slate ink while masking the background.  Then stamp the evergreen branches with Garden Green ink while masking the trees.  I drew the markings on the trees with a Basic Gray marker.  If you don’t have a Basic Gray marker, use Basic Black.  Stamp the deer twice – once in Soft Suede ink and once in Cherry Cobbler ink, both on Whisper White cardstock.  Fussy-cut the full deer for the image stamped in Soft Suede.  Fussy-cut just the sweater stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  Use Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the sweater to the deer.  Cut along both sides of one tree with a craft knife so you can slip the deer behind the tree.  Adhere the deer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue applied carefully to the back of the deer with a toothpick once you have it in place.  The finished art piece is adhered to a panel of Basic Gray cardstock with Liquid Glue.  This finished layer is adhered directly to the Smoky Slate card base with Liquid Glue as well.

Stamp the sentiment from the Snowflake Sentiments stamp set on Whisper White cardstock with Cherry Cobbler ink.  Cut out the sentiment piece with the Pretty Label punch.  Punch another label from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and cut this one in half from top to bottom.  Adhere each half of the Cherry Cobbler label to the back of the stamped label with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, spreading the halves to reveal the Cherry Cobbler mat on the right and left sides.  Loop an 8″ length of 3/8″ Stitched Satin Garden Green ribbon as shown and adhere to the card front with a couple Mini Glue Dots.  Adhere the sentiment label to the card front over the ribbon loop with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The card interior liner panel is cut from Whisper White cardstock.  The evergreen branch is stamped multiple times in each top corner with Garden Green ink.  It is adhered to the card interior with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
