Stampin’ Up! Colorful Seasons Falling Leaves for the Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Welcome back to another Inkin’ Krew blog hop!  Our very talented team is doing a blog hop featuring Stampin’ Up! products.  This month our theme is “Fall Frenzy”. Here is the card I created:

This triple fold card is designed to celebrate the beautiful colors of Fall leaves.  It was created with Colorful Seasons stamps, Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies and Color Theory Designer Series Paper.  These stamps and dies are so versatile and cover every season of the year.  This Designer Series Paper is beautiful as a background, adding texture and interest without overpowering the design.

To begin, score a 5-1/2″ x 11″ panel of Early Espresso cardstock on the long side at 1-1/4″, 4″ and 6-3/4″.  Fold in a zigzag fashion as shown, creating three layers when closed.  Use a bone folder to make the folds crisp and smooth.  Cut all the panels Old Olive Color Theory Designer Series Paper as indicated at the end of this post.  Use SNAIL to adhere the narrow panel of Old Olive White Crackle design to the front side of the first layer.  Adhere the three panels of Old Olive Green Crackle design to the interior sections, as shown.  Dry fit the largest Old Olive White Crackle design panel to determine placement for the sentiment, so it doesn’t show when the card is closed.  Stamp the sentiment using Early Espresso ink, then adhere the sentiment panel to the final interior section.

To create the paper for the leaves, use sponge daubers and ink pads to add color to a  5-1/2″ x 8″ panel of Whisper White cardstock.  The ink pads used are Olive Olive, Peekaboo Peach, Calypso Coral, Cajun Craze, Lemon Lime Twist and Crushed Curry.  After sponging the panel, lay the dies over the cardstock to select the area you want to cut to have a variety of shades.  Try to have no two leaves alike.  Die cut eight small leaves and two large leaves with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.   Adhere the leaves to the sections as shown, varying the orientation of each leaf.

The final step is to create the belly band.  It adds interest to the overall design and holds the card closed to create some intrigue for the recipient.  Wrap the 9-1/2″ by 1″ strip of Old Olive cardstock around the closed card.  Don’t make it too challenging to remove – make it snug enough to not slip down on it’s own, but loose enough to slide off easily.  Apply a bit of Multipurpose Liquid glue at the overlapped ends to secure.  The seam is on the front of the card and will be covered by the large leaf.  Use Mini Glue Dots to adhere a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon along the center of the belly band, trimming the ends so there is no overlap.  Cut the detailed leaf from Early Espresso cardstock with the die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlets.  Adhere it to a large sponged leaf with small dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Glue or the Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Use the branch die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits dies to cut a limb from Early Espresso cardstock.  Cut the limb into three sections with your Paper Snips to use as twigs behind the leaf.  Adhere the leaf and twigs to the belly band with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and you’re done!
